Hearts and Minds: Fear and Force

It was a high counsel that I once heard given to a young person, "Always do what you are afraid to do."
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Never completely give in to fear

Fear nothing, for every renewed effort raises all former failures into lessons, all sins into experience.
– Unknown

Don’t fear, just live right.
– Neal A. Maxwell

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
– Nelson Mandela

When our actions do not, our fears make us traitors.
– William Shakespeare (Macbeth)

A life lived in fear is half lived.

Fear is the parent of cruelty.
– J.A. Froude

There will be a day for the oppressor when he will be crushed like garlic.
       – Palestinian Proverb

The force of a wave takes everything with it

Force, no matter how concealed, begets resistance.
       – Lakota Proverb

Force is that which rules the actions without regulating the will.
       – Traditional Proverb

The use of force alone is but temporary. It may subdue for a moment; but it does not remove the necessity of subduing again; and a nation is not governed, which is perpetually to be conquered.
– Edmund Burke

The Dash

What will you do with your dash?

Snow Bunny

I took Emma outside in the snow to play for a little while today.  She was having fun building a "snow castle" but got tired of trying to trudge through the snow and falling down every time she tried to move.  I had to keep lifting her and putting her back down like a little bunny hopping through the snow.  It was funny but she soon got frustrated so we came in and she took a nap.  Here are a few photos:

My father in law was nice enough to come and dig me out today only to find out that we are getting 5 to 10 more inches tonight!

Have a great evening everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving To All

Thanks to all of you who sent wonderful Thanksgiving greetings to my guest book.  I wanted to get around to each of you and leave something for you, but with this snow storm I was losing internet and power pretty frequently and just couldn’t get it done in time.

So for all of you and yours…

North Country Thanksgiving

Yesterday, I posted photos of the snow when the Lake Effect Storm was just beginning; this morning it was still snowing and at 4:30pm, it has not stopped.  I am "snowbound".  Good thing Grandma’s house isn’t too far down the road as Emma and I will be bundling up in our snow gear to hike down  there for Thanksgiving dinner.

Here are some photos I took this morning as a follow up to yesterday’s photos…no comparison!

Grand total so far…17"

Let is Snow…Let it Snow…Let it Snow!

Stay Warm Everyone!

Let it Snow

Hello to All

Emma and I woke up this morning to a beautiful snowfall.  About 11am, I went to check the mail and snapped a few photos.

A few hours later, I took a few more photos as the snow continued to fall:

It is now 6 hours later and the snow continues to fall.  We are caught up in the  Lake Effect Snow coming in East off of Lake Ontario.  The snow is supposed to continue through early evening tomorrow, so I will venture out to take some more photos once it is all said and done.  We are expecting 14 to 16 inches, so…

Welcome Thanksgiving Day Snow!
