Wisdom Quotes: Regret

Alexander Graham Bell:

When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.

Harriet Beecher Stowe:

The bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone.

Henry David Thoreau:

Make the most of your regrets. . . . To regret deeply is to live afresh.

Katherine Mansfield:

Make it a rule of life never to regret and never to look back. Regret is an appalling waste of energy; you can’t build on it; it’s only for wallowing in.

Percy Bysshe Shelley:

Fear not for the future, weep not for the past.

Sydney J. Harris:

Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time; it is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable.

I do regret at times, but some days I said to myself its not bad after all, and think back, it might be even worst than what I am now if I didn\’t chosen to do that. And I feel better then and its true, where will I go? If I don\’t have this flat, yes, it drop racket low after I bought it, but I have a place to go and its call my home. Good words Rhonda, thank you! Mei

The Sydney Harris one is one I understand more now with age/health issues I am glad I did do (sometimes impulsively) stuff I did as younger so I am not feeling regretful. There are times I wish I had done more but, at least, I did try (& at times fail). Big Smiles for the day.

Lots of people have said to me…Don\’t you \’regret\’ being an only child & having had such religious parents\’ Truthfully…when I look back I don\’t because I never knew what I was missing back then. I have a great sense of humour…I can thank my 3 sons for that…they taught me a great deal as they were growing up. I liked this blog Rhonda…Hugs Valerie x0x

If only we could learn to life without regrets. That is living in the past. WE regret the past and worry about the future. WE must learn to live only in the present. Stay there and you will have not regrets of the past or worries of the future… Hugs Carrie
